Research Interests

Numerical analysis of partial differential equations
• Fast solution and efficient preconditioning of large linear systems arising from the finite element discretisation of partial differential equations. This work is in collaboration with David Silvester, Andy Wathen, Daniel Loghin and Howard Elman.
• Efficient mesh refinement for the finite element method. This work is in collaboration with David Silvester.
• I have also worked on the Approximation theory for the p- and hp-finite element method. This work was carried out with Mark Ainsworth.
• Recently I began work on numerical methods for modelling the partial differential equations arising from super conductivity in collaboration with Prof. Charlie Elliott, and Vanessa Styles.

Other interests

I love playing football, our department plays every week, and I play for Montpelier Villa. I also coach Whitehawk ladies football team. I also enjoy playing squash and going down hill as fast as possible with a mountain bike somewhere near me, below are some photographs of me and Holly in the Canadian Rockies.
